He had just turned forty. She had been gone for twenty years.
Andrei Jebeleanu, editor-in-chief of a Bucharest daily and a devoted student of his own excesses, wakes to find Dia, the vanished love of his youth, in the apartment no woman is allowed to enter. Within the hour he learns that his parents have died on a mountain road, in a crash that makes no sense. Soon a car is following him, and the only man he can turn to is his employer, Van D., media baron and the most powerful man in Romania.
Erudite, profane and grieving, The Apophatic Man is a novel about the selves we borrow and the truths we are spared.
